Down with the sickness.

I am finally starting to feel after dealing with a cold that kicked my hind end hard. I started out with just a tiny tickle in my throat and the very next morning I was so congested I couldn’t breathe. I ended up sleeping for the better part of the next three days and started to feel more human and then I started to get a sore throat. Finally felt better from that and ended up with a nasty cough so I’ve been a walking hot mess for the last two weeks. So knitting and housework and sewing have been put on the back burner while I’ve been trying to get well. Luckily no one else in my family got quite as sick as I did. They all ended up with a case of the snuggles and that was it. I swear my immune system is the worse. I always get 10 times more sick than anyone else when I do get sick. It’s crazy and really annoying to just have a sickness drag on and on.

Of course, I never went to the doctor with my cold, mostly because I think it’s pointless to go for a cold and because I avoid the doctor at all cost. I have such anxiety when it comes to doctors and doctors appointment so the only time I go is when I am really, really sick. I have such doctors anxiety that I get all worked up when my kids are going to their doctor’s appointment. I am slowly getting better with the “doctor” anxiety but it’s been a slow process.

Now that I am feeling better I finally decided to paint. Not the painting like I was talking about in my New Year’s post…I mean painting the walls. We have lived in the house for almost 5 years now and we only painted the kitchen. When we moved in we had a 3-year-old and I was pregnant so painting just never got done. We kept saying we will do it next year and every year it just got put on the “to do” list for the next. I decided that since I am a weirdo and actually enjoy painting, that I would paint the living room by myself. So far it has been going great. I paint in that four hour time frame I have weekly that both boys are at school. I just started painting last Thursday and I have a wall and a half down…which doesn’t seem like much but it makes so happy to see the progress. I tried painting last weekend but the kids got paint on them in less than five minutes of being in the same room as the paint so I think I am going to stick with my kid-free painting. It just makes it more enjoyable for me too not to have to worry about the kids getting into it every few minutes.

Here are pictures of a little bit of my progress. I will post more craft content soon I swear It might be a little weak in the crafty department until I finish all this painting.

Wooly mail!

My roving arrived for my mittens! It’s not the same wool I used last time but it will work for what I need. I wasn’t exactly sure what I had ordered but now that I have the new stuff here I realized I ordered superfine merino last time. It was years ago so not too shocking I didn’t remember. I am also not very good at keeping tags for things after I start using it. Not a big deal still loving the colors. The new yarn I chose has some purples in it and I love purples.

So close to being finished but of course I have other projects going on so it will take me forever to finish that tiny bit and the thumbs. If you are looking for the pattern is was posted in my other blog post Mittens full of clouds. It’s a great pattern. Now to finish these and enjoy them before the winter weather is done for this year.
